WEEK 1:

So, my first Student Ambassador event started a couple weeks before the semester started! The first Event that I attended was the Hazelwood Walk-a-Thon, on Saturday August 11th, where me and a couple of other Student Ambassadors and the Dean of UCBA, Dean Lightner, went on a casual walk hosted by Michael Washington, a contributor to the scholarships for UCBA students.

It rained through the entire walk and Mr.Washington's notes got wet, but despite all that he continued to inform us about the history of Hazelwood!  After that the Dean invited us to a brunch at McAlister's Deli, which was very nice of her.

After that me and the Student Ambassadors carpooled back to UCBA and hung out in the third floor; because it was cool and newly renovated; until the next event started that day.

I got the opportunity to work the Operation Give Back Event after that, which is an event that helped provide hudreds of students with backpacks and school supplies as they prepare for the first day of school. We had to help them with the setup and to pack remaining backpacks with common supplies which are taken to local schools in case kids show up without the basics. The people that we worked with were very kind and supportive and kindly asked us to help them out for Christmas events during the winter!

My second week of being a Student Ambassador was really fun! I attended a very fun event called "Latino Student Welcome Cookout" on August 24th , which was basically a welcome BBQ for Latino students. We helped Molly Scruta, Coordinator of Inclusion and Involvement, in setting up the tables, decoration and check-in.

It was very fun, we met the Family of Nick Castro, Assistant Director of Inclusion and Involvement, a lot of students whom we met during Orientations and some parents.

We played Volleyball, which I never played before and realized that it is not my thing; because I kept running away from the ball, every time it was near me! We also played Soccer, while I was wearing flats, which contributed to the loss of our team!

We ate some BBQ and some Mexican rice pudding, which turned out to taste the same as the one we make in Jerusalem.

I really enjoyed the fun event and we ended the night with spilling ice cubes on the floor, which I nearly slipped from.

So, it was the first week of Fall Semester 2018! I was feeling exited; because it was a new semester, new classes, new professors and a fresh start!

However, I was feeling a little nervous; because I was still scared that I wouldn't be able to manage my time wisely, especially having to take 16 credit hours, working 10 hours at Admissions, being a Student Ambassador and doing my clinical shadowing at the UC College of Medicine! But the only way to find out if we can, is to try!

I had my first welcome desk shift this week on Tuesday, but it was only for half an hour. Luckily, Leo was there to help me understand how it works and stayed there until my shift ended!

I also attended the "Technology Committee Meeting" with Stephanie. During the meeting, the faculty and Staff were discussing some issues regarding the new renovation in the third floor of Muntz and when some rooms will be available for use. They were also discussing some issues about Blackboard, Outlook  and also discussing the amount of paper that was printed last semester and ways to save paper. Also, they mentioned that there was a student, who printed about 6000 papers in 3 weeks, which was kind of funny, becasue no one expected that, but quite informative.
