Week 5
This week was very busy for me, I had a bunch of events On Monday I met with Sarah Wolf, the Director of Student Life. My role as an Event Manager, I had to come up with an event that I would like to facilitate to t engage students on campus. I was thinking about doing the Stress relieve event for students at the end of the semester. So, I brainstormed and told Sarah about some ideas like having a Yoga session and some comfort food for students during finals week.
We also had a Meeting on Monday where we discussed our event roles and about the Blue Ash Dash, as well as the Open House event.
On Tuesday, I had my regular welcome desk shift and then I had the Technology Department Meeting. They were talking about how they are thinking about changing Blackboard and how they will shut down Catalyst for a couple of days during the reading days. Other than that, they were discussing about the renovation in the third floor and about bringing in more furniture.
On Thursday, Leo, Zack, Brooke and I worked the French Film Festival. It was really fun, especially the part where we tried to turn the popcorn machine on and try to actually make pop corn. It was really fun, because none of us had experience with it. At the beginning it started to smoke and we freaked out but then we finally understood how it works.
On Saturday, I had to wake up at 5 in the morning to be able to go to the Foreign Language Department Event that was called "Help me understand Gen-Z students". It was quite interesting that everyone in that room was either a millennial, baby boomer or a Gen-Xer and they had this entire conversation about how to cope with and understand Gen-Z students. Zack, Maddie and I were the only Gen-Z students and it was funny that throughout the workshop conference we got to know a lot more about our generation and try to compare it to the other generations before us.
