This week was probably the longest week of my life. I had my first Organic Chemistry Exam, which was a little rough for me. I thought it was going to be easy, but apparently now I know what to expect. I had a lot of homework and lab reports due this week and I felt like it was never going to end. But thank god! Finally made it!
This week I had two welcome desk shifts in the morning, one on Tuesday the 18th and the other on Thursday the 20th. I also did my first Thank you card Project, which was due on Friday the 21st. I thought it was going to be hard, but it was really easy and I even got to finish it during my Welcome Desk Shift.
This week was also my first week attending ECG, the English Conversation Club on Thursday. It was really fun and all of the students there were students I already know, which was very nice. In ECG we were talking about names and about the history/meaning and why most people change their names when they move to the US.
I know for myself that my parents named me after Celine Dion, a Canadian Singer; because they love her voice. They also didn't want to name me an Arabic name; because Arabic names are hard to pronounce. We also talked about bloopers and how some people misspell or mispronounce our names.
Even though Celine is an easy name, a lot of people misspell my name, especially in Starbucks, they always mistaken it for Selene or Selena or Seline or something. Someone called me (C-line) once, which was embarrassing, but I guess they never heard it before.
Anyways, enough about names! After we finished discussing names, the ECG club somehow became a talent show, more specifically "The Voice". It was really nice, Leo and a couple other students started rapping and showed us their new songs. We all sang Hallelujah together, which sounded amazing. Jercell and I sang "The music of the Night" by the Phantom of the Opera, even though I was sick, I still kind of managed to sing it somehow. All in all, I felt so entertained in ECG and I hope I can work the ECG events again!
